The Best Halloween Costume Ideas Ever!

|

The best Halloween costume ideas ever are distinct to each person. That's because which Halloween costume you like best is a matter of personal taste. You may like the Gothic Vampire best, while I like the Fairy. There are some costume themes that are popular every year, and some styles come and go depending on the blockbuster movies or cartoon characters that happen to be popular right now. Let's take a look at some of the excellent costume styles that are popular year after year.

Superhero and Villain Halloween Costume Ideas

Halloween Decorations

Superheroes and their worst Villains are always a popular costume idea for Halloween parties and trick or treating. This year Batman is popular again, and so are some of his most sublime villains...The Joker, The Scarecrow, Cat Woman and Poison Ivy. Logan, of the X-Men is also pretty hot this season...we know him as Wolverine. Transformers have been a popular kids costume theme for years, but thanks to the release of their new movie, Revenge of the Fallen, they are super hot this year. Bumblebee, Optimus Prime and Megatron are the three most popular Autobot costumes for boys.

The Best Halloween Costume Ideas Ever!

For girls and women there is Supergirl and Wonder Women to turn each of us into crime fighters with special powers that make us Super! Spider Girl costumes are also pretty popular with the ladies year after year. The unmistakably super thing about these superhero costumes is that they work for both male and female costume ideas. It's just fun to have these extra special powers and crime fighting abilities, even if it is only for one day. And it's fun to be one of those very bad guys...just for a day too.

Celebrity Halloween Costume Ideas

If your not going to be a Superhero, you might want to dress up like a Celebrity. A celebrity like Hannah Montana are all fun dress up costumes to wear. Movie and Tv stars are as close as you can get to Superheroes without unmistakably being one. For boys there are popular characters like Ben 10 or Dan Kuso of Bakugan are a close relative to superheroes.

For teens and adults there are some real oldies, but goodies costume ideas out there. Be nostalgic and get dressed up as Marilyn Monroe and Elvis from any of his hit movies...or from his music. There's Michael Jackson costumes with his outfits from Thriller, Bad...and the gorgeous sparkling Billie Jean outfit. For the ladies, how about that gorgeous and funny lady from I Love Lucy...Lucille Ball, that sublime comedian from old time Tv.

Then there are some adult funny costumes based on characters like the Flintstones...yep, Fred and Wilma, Barney and Betty and even Bam Bam and Pebbles are popular adult and teen costumes.

Gothic Halloween Costume Ideas

Sometimes, it's the make up possibilities that attract us to a particular character we can dress up as. The Gothic theme is always a popular one, but this year the gothic costumes for teenagers and adults are unmistakably consuming out of the market quickly. The Renaissance goth costumes, and the cooler punkier ones, like the Gothic Fairy, the Corpse Bride and Groom or the Gothic Mummy are fun, not only to wear, but to get made up for. Very light foundation and very dark, smokey eyes are part of the gothic make up charm. Add some black nail polish, a minute gray blush and some dark blood red lipstick and you've achieved the gothic Halloween look.

Sexy Halloween Costume Ideas

Of course, if you happen to be an adult, sexy is always a hit. You can take one of those Marilyn outfits or get a Greek Goddess Venus or Aphrodite. There's a unmistakably cute lady Cop uniform and some naughty, but nice Angel and Fairy costumes. For the men, there are the classics, the Vampire and the Roman Guard and of course, the Cop if you like a man in uniform.

Fantasy and Fairy Tale Halloween Costume Ideas

The Disney Princesses, Tinkerbell, Fairy and Mermaid costumes are always big crowd pleaser for the girls and the boys, well, they have Prince Caspian, a Knight, Peter Pan and the Dragon Slayer to select from.
The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland open up lots of costume ideas too.

Easy Costumes For Halloween

Easy costumes are always big hits with all age groups. Togas, Scrubs or a White Lab Coat are very popular because of the ease of production them. You don't have to buy or sew to turn yourself into a Toga wearing Greek, or a physician or Nurse costume. Just get a sheet or a large rectangular piece of material to make your own toga or borrow some scrubs and a stethoscope from man in the medical field.

What ever Halloween costume ideas you rule on, either its a toga or Marilyn, or The Gothic Fairy for the ladies, and a Transformer or Indiana Jones costume for the guys, enjoy the occasion to dress up and go out and have some fun.

How to Make Halloween Masks and Costumes Using Printable Halloween Stencils

|

Looking for some Halloween masks that would be fun to make? Halloween is sneaking up on you and if you get caught without a costume, it could be scary! Don't scream. With a creative mask pattern or stencil you have the start of a unique Halloween costume. Plus you'll have a great time development it yourself. And as you may have guessed, there are many ways to use stencils to originate a costume. We are going to search for some of them here. So, let's jump right in but don't be scared.

Ok! So there aren't too many stencils out there that are specifically designed as Halloween masks. So, you'll have to think surface the pumpkin a tiny and get those creative juices flowing. After all, that's why development your own craft masks is so much fun.

Halloween Decorations

When we were kids we loved development our own costumes except we didn't have all the fancy stuff like felt and craft foam or patterns from the internet (I'm dating myself aren't I?). It didn't matter because we had a ball advent up with ideas using the things we could assuredly find nearby the house.

How to Make Halloween Masks and Costumes Using Printable Halloween Stencils

First, there are many stencils ready for carving pumpkins. Right? Well, these are great for creating masks. How, you say? Well, let us count the ways.

Cut out a round or pumpkin shape from orange felt (stiff felt is great), orange craft foam or even paper you painted orange. If you can, don't forget to cut a tiny stem on top and dab some green paint on that. If you assuredly want to be creative, paint some vertical curve lines in a darker orange to assuredly give it the pumpkin look. Then take your stencil designed for pumpkin carving and use it to cut openings into the felt. You may need to make some adjustments to the size of your stencil to make sure that eye, nose and mouth holes are in the standard places for you to see, breath and talk. Just take the stencil to a copy machine and cut or develop it until you have the right size. Use a hole punch tool to make nice round holes on each side and attach orange or black ribbons so that you can tie it nearby your head.

Here is one of our tried and true methods of mask making. It's a tiny like the tip above. Take large paper bags (big adequate so that you can slide it over the head). Paint the bag orange and then use a stencil for pumpkin carving to cut out the face on the front of the bag. You can find abundance of printable Halloween stencils on the internet. You may need to trim out some curves for the shoulders so that the bag can come down low in the front and back. Don't forget to cut out holes nearby the ears for good hearing. It's quick, easy and best of all free!

To faultless a pumpkin mask costume, cut leg and arm holes in one of those jack-o-lantern leaf bags. Fill it with plastic shopping bags to fill it out and tape it nearby your shoulders once it's full.

Let me just mention an additional one creative way to use these stencils designed for carving pumpkins. Try using the old stand-by sheet for a ghost costume and cut out the stencils in the face area. Use a tiny creativity and decorate the rest of the sheet too. Or maybe spray paint the sheet orange nearby the area that will cover the head before cutting out the pattern. To be assuredly creative, after the stencil is cut into the sheet, frame the holes with some black acrylic craft paint. This makes the openings stand out and also helps the edges from becoming frayed.

Halloween stencils offer an easy way to trick (or treat!) out a t-shirt. Use an old one from the closet or buy a new one (old is preferable). If you have an orange shirt, use black fabric paint to put the image from a pumpkin carving stencil over the front of the shirt. If you have a black shirt handy then use orange or white fabric paint.

Ok. So we covered all the common stencils for pumpkin carving that are designed as the general faces we're all used to. But now with the internet we have so many others to pick from. Some very talented artists have taken the whole pumpkin carving stencil art to a whole new level. You can find designs of cats, pirates, wolves, witches, demons, cartoon characters, vampires, ghouls, mummies ... Well, the list is too long to keep going. My point is that the above options for creating a mask can be used for most of these. Remember that these were designed for a round pumpkin so that to resize them for face shapes and sizes is not a far stretch and can normally be achieved.

Now let's come up with a few ideas to faultless the costume for some of the masks mentioned above.

Feel like howling at the moon? A wolf mask is easy to originate with gray felt, craft foam or paint. faultless the costume with a gray t-shirt and gray sweat pants.

Feel like a feline? Black cats are always popular at Halloween. faultless a cat mask with a black turtle neck shirt, black leggings and a black feather boa for a tail.

Want to be Frankie Baby? That's an easy one! Get some lime green felt, craft foam or paint. Dress up the mask with an old plaid flannel shirt, a ragged pair of jeans and a pair of work boots.

Are you a Witch? I mean for Halloween! Use black felt for the mask. You need to have an old loose fitting black dress (try a thrift store if you don't have one that you can use) and a broom.

And speaking of the many possibilities that stencils give us to decorate, here are some more creative and easy ideas. Just because Halloween stencils and patterns were designed for pumpkin carving doesn't mean that they can't be used for a large collection of other Halloween crafts such as: paint them on a bag for collecting your treats; paint them on the corner of a napkin to decorate your festive table; or paint them on colored paper for decorating the windows or doors. There are many other ways to use these splendid designs to embellish your holiday decorations.

I know how creative you can be when you get started so don't be frightened to try something new. originate a costume using a stencil or mask pattern and discontinue up with some other fun ideas. I hope your Halloween is a real Scream!

Fun And Easy Halloween Party Ideas And Games For Kids

|

Kids love Halloween not just for the candy, but for the occasion to dress up in crazy costumes! So why not let them make their own spooky Halloween masks, hats and costumes?

Fun And Easy Halloween Party Ideas And Games For Kids

For masks, all you need are some paper plates, a hole punch and string, and decorations like glitter, stickers, markers and other odds and ends. Pick up some hats, ponchos, shirts, boots and such from a thrift store, and let them decorate and assemble their own costumes. Fabric paint and glue make it easy for them to let their imaginations loose!

Halloween Games

Halloween party ideas mainly town nearby games. One of the easiest games is to stage a Halloween parade, and let the kids show off their costume creations!

Something like 'stand on one foot' or 'cluck like a chicken'. On the other half write 'treat'. Put all the strips in a hat or Halloween bag, and have the kids sit in a circle. Each child draws a strip from the hat. If they pull 'trick', they have to perform the trick for the group. If they pull 'treat', then they get to hunt for a treat, like a small candy or Halloween themed item. Hide the treats nearby the area.

Mummy Wrap Race is a fun Halloween party idea. Split the kids into small groups, and tell each group to nominate one child as the mummy. The object of the game is to be the first group to wrap their mummy using a whole role of toilet tissue.

Icy Outdoor Christmas Decorations

|

I have found a way that you can transform your landscape in to an icy Christmas wonderland for pennies. If you have water and a freezer you can generate a look that is very elegant and classic or whimsical and fun depending on the garnishment you use. These decorating ideas will survive longer in northern climates; however the icy touches on patios and centerpieces in a warmer climate will be a refreshing look for a holiday party.

Luminaries
A beautiful reasonable and impressive way to light a path to your door is luminaries. The whole paper bag with a candle all the time seemed a bit risky but here is an easy solution that is safe and makes a great statement.

Halloween Decorations

Ice luminaries
Supplies:
1. 2 containers one smaller than the other, I have used all things from milk cartons to plastic bowls that nest inside each other. You can use just about any container and add a balloon with a rock in it for weight. The prominent thing is that one container is bigger than the other.
2. Water
3. Freezer, face works if it's cold enough.
4. Various greens, berries, etc.

Icy Outdoor Christmas Decorations

Pour water in the larger container, put smaller container inside. You want water to be on all sides as equal as potential as well as under the smaller container. You will need to weight the top container as it will commonly try to float. Add greenery, berries, sticks or any other embellishments you want to the water between the containers. This is optional. Your luminary will be pretty whether way.

Put them in the freezer at least over night, the time needed will be determined by how thick the layer of water is between the two containers. When fully icy take off the smaller container, add some warm water to the smaller container if you are having problem taking it out. If you used a balloon for the town can just pop it. Add a candle and presto, changeo you have a luminary.

Just a side note: One year I made them votive size and put them in a tray with fresh greenery and roses for a centerpiece. They look great and help keep the greenery and flowers watered.

You can also make Ice Globes; fill a balloon with water and freeze. They will ice from the face in. Check them regularly; you want the "shell" to be icy but the town to be liquid. Once you have a solid shell you can take them out and pop the balloon. Drain the remaining water out of the town cavity and you have your globe. You will have to chip an opening. This is an easy task. Now add your tea lights and you're done. You can make these any size. Use your imagination, make a glowing ice snowman or pile them up in a pyramid...Line your driveway, sidewalk or patio. You'll love the effect.

Crystal Branches
Plant sticks and branches in your flower pots. You can "crystallize" them if you live in a place with icy temperatures. Using a spray bottle filled with water mist them periodically. At last they will be come encased in ice and have the appearance of crystal.

Ice Ornaments
You can also use your ice and candy molds to make ice ornaments. You can hang them from trees or your potted sticks and branches. Lay a ribbon, wire or string in the mold when you ice for a hanger, these also make an perfect expanding to your holiday centerpieces.

Ice Wreaths
Use a Jell-O mold to make an ice wreath. For years this trick has been used to keep the punch cold but why not make it a hanging wreath. Add cranberries, greenery and/or some water proof ribbon. Orange, lime and lemon slices look great also if you are using a nontraditional color scheme. Easy and stunning. These can be very heavy if you use too much water so make them thin. (You can all the time make more.) These look especially good on light posts or porch railings.

All these icy ideas can be adapted to enhance any current theme or colors you use. Your imagination is the only limit to all the applications that are possible. Enjoy! Merry Christmas!

Hand Print Spider

Halloween Decorations

This first hand print craft is a spider. Although spiders can be a bit scary these adorable hand printed spiders won't be too scary for the kids to make.

Fun and Easy Hand Print Halloween Crafts For Kids

Supplies

Card stock or building paper (any color but black) Black tempera or poster paint (or even dark purple and red make a cool spider) Paintbrush Googly eyes Glue

Directions

Using the paint brush, fully cover your child's palm and four fingers. Don't paint the thumb. Use black paint or the color your child selected for their spider. Next have the kids press their hand firmly on the paper spreading their fingers slightly. Now paint their other hand all except the thumb. Have your child press that hand down on the paper, overlapping the first hand print and development sure the fingers are across from the ones in the primary print. This will form the spider's body and 8 legs. The kids can fill in any spots with the paint brush or use their fingers to spread the paint in the gaps. Let this dry fully before the next step. Now it's time to add some eyes. You can use paper cut outs or add some fun wiggle eyes. Just glue these in place and you will have a creepy, crawly spider craft.

Here are some fun ways to add to your Halloween craft.

Add some glitter glue to make the spider shiny and scary. Take some pom poms and cut microscopic pieces to create a fuzzy fur for the spider. Spread the glue colse to your spider and then slowly press the pom pom pieces in place. You can dress up your spider with some fun Halloween stickers as well.

Hand Print Ghost

For this Halloween craft idea you will want black paper and white paint to indeed let your ghost show. This is yet another great Halloween craft idea for toddlers and even younger kids but even big kids love development this one.

Supplies

Black card stock or building paper White tempera or poster paint Paintbrush Googly eyes Glue Scissors

Directions

Using the paint brush, fully cover your child's entire palm, fingers and thumb with paint. Now have them press their hand on the paper firmly with fingers slightly spread apart (not too wide). Fill in any gaps with the paintbrush or their fingers. Once the paint is dry, glue on some wiggle eyes at the top of the palm area. Cut out a mouth using black paper and glue this on below the eyes.

The fingers come to be the bottom of the ghost development it look like a torn up sheet and is just too cute to be too scary.

Here are some fun ways to add to your Halloween hand print craft.

Instead of using wiggle eyes and paper, use black paint to draw on the face and eyes. Make them large and wiggly for a fun look to your ghost. By some spider webbing and stretch this out. Then spread glue colse to the ghost and slowly lay the webbing over the glue. Once the glue is dry, cut away any excess webbing. Try adding some white glitter to your ghost. Spread some glue colse to and then sprinkle on the glitter.

Another indeed fun alternative to this hand print Halloween craft is to make it a footprint ghost. Kids will love how it tickles when you paint their foot. Of course it goes without saying that you want to start with clean feet so have a pail of water and towel handy so all the kids in the class can clean up first.

Another fun craft is, of course, pumpkin carving... But make it cleaner and safer by letting the kids decorate small, mini pumpkins with markers, glitter, stickers and more.

Finally, let them make their own Halloween loot bags. All you need are plain brown paper bags, and lots of things to decorate the bags with. Once they've decorated their bags, take them and fill them with candies, stickers, Halloween pencils and erasers, small toys, orange play dough and such. Then tie them with ribbon or taffeta, and present them to the kids when they're leaving the party.

Halloween Games

Halloween party ideas mainly town colse to games. One of the easiest games is to stage a Halloween parade, and let the kids show off their costume creations!

Trick Or Treat is an additional one fun game for kids. Cut up strips of paper, about twice as many strips as there are party guests. On half of the strips write 'trick', and include a trick... Something like 'stand on one foot' or 'cluck like a chicken'. On the other half write 'treat'. Put all the strips in a hat or Halloween bag, and have the kids sit in a circle. Each child draws a strip from the hat. If they pull 'trick', they have to accomplish the trick for the group. If they pull 'treat', then they get to search for a treat, like a small candy or Halloween themed item. Hide the treats colse to the area.

Mummy Wrap Race is a fun Halloween party idea. Split the kids into small groups, and tell each group to nominate one child as the mummy. The object of the game is to be the first group to wrap their mummy using a whole role of toilet tissue.

You could use a chisel to slightly hollow out the middle of the stump so that the lamp can sit stably or plainly use some Blu-Tack or Velcro.

Get some small or mini pumpkins and hollow them out to use as candle holders. If open flames are out of the question, you can put glow sticks instead of candles for a different effect. You can carve, draw or paint faces on the pumpkins too. Instead of pumpkins, you could use apples as well. Ensure that you pick apples that sit well and flat or cut off the lowest to make a flat surface. Take off the stem and cut colse to it deep enough for the candle. It is best to use taper candles for a best fit.

Get a large pumpkin and hollow it out to use as a salad bowl or to serve fresh vegetables. Cut off the top, hollow and clean it out and let it dry in the sun. You could carve a jagged edge design on the top. Do the same with some smaller or mini pumpkins to use for dips or salad dressings.

Add some straw for effect. You can use a plastic pumpkin for the head and draw a face on it. This makes a great Halloween craft for the whole family.

While you're at it, why not make some slime using glue, water and borax powder. This is an advanced Hallween craft, so take your time and be careful.

Using apples, you can make dried, shrunken heads. Peel the apples and coat with a compound of lemon juice and salt to forestall browning. Carve out a face of eyes, nose and mouth. Do not worry about the finer details as they will probably be lost when the apple dries. You can use whole cloves for the eyes and rice grains for the teeth. If you don't have 2 weeks, you can speed up the drying by putting them into an oven on the lowest climatic characteristic for about 45 minutes and then to dry out plainly for the next 2 days or so. Once dried, they shrink and deform into weird and scary seeing faces.
