"Trees are Not just for Christmas!"

Hit the streets and look for branches that have fallen off of the trees. For indoor centerpieces or "trim", collect up a lot of twigs and small branches. I live in Los Angeles (very urban... Not a rural country road), and I see branches and limbs on the ground every singular day on the streets and sidewalks. These are yours for the taking, and they will give you the biggest bang for "no bucks!" For outdoor decorations, the size of the branches are merely diminutive to what you can carry or haul away. I head out in my car and carry a battery operated saw so that I can trim down weighty limbs to fit into the back of my car.

The awesome thing about dead tree branches is that they are typically "made to order" excellent for Halloween. Obviously, look for the more "spooky" ones with some density and a lot of "branching" because this may come in extra handy if you want to add spider webbing.

Use rope and/or bungie cords to fasten the branches to pillars, posts, mailboxes, entry ways...wherever you can find a sturdy place to withhold the weight. Use some extra awareness with regard to your Halloween visitors: Make sure there are no (sharp) branches pointing out at eye-level (both adults' and kids' eye level.) Make sure there's no way a heavy field can as a matter of fact be pulled down by a child or slip off of its mount. Security with huge "props" is a renowned concern.

If you are using any of the black-light tricks and the tree limbs will be near the lights, you might consider spray painting the limbs with fluorescent paint. You can whether coat 'em, or lightly dapple them.

One last totally free "trick" that's overlooked is leaves! If you are "lucky enough" to have them already on the lawn...leave them there over Halloween. If, like me here in Los Angeles, you don't have any on the lawn, just go seeing for a pile somewhere. Again, even though we live in a warm atmosphere here, there are many, many trees that lose their leaves. I take a garbage bag, hunt some down, and bring them home to sprinkle on the lawn. It's especially great to put them nearby tombstones and such. There's nothing more "half decorated" than a bunch of "scary tombstones" on top of a well manicured lawn. For Halloween...messier is better!

Without a doubt, these "nature's freebies" are the best, easiest, cheapest, biggest tricks to add to your Halloween ornamentation displays.

"Fluttering Sputtering Firey Light Flicker-er"

Flickering, Sputtering, Fluttering Fire Lighting to Illuminate Your Halloween Decorations and House!

Ingredients:

1) c7 "flicker flame" chandelier or candelabra bulb
2) c7 nightlight socket
3) 3 postponement cords
4) photo-sensor outlet
5) Enclosure (like a shoebox)

The photo-sensor turns on the power to its outlet whenever there is no light hitting the sensor. (These devices are regularly used to turn lights on after dark.) If we use the flicker/chandelier bulb near the sensor and put this compound in a light-tight box, the fluttering chandelier bulb will make anything pulled into the photsensor also flutter. That's all there is to it. You will need to experiment with the distance between the photo-sensor and the chandelier bulb.

A) Plug the photo-sensor into postponement cord 1.

B) Screw the c7 chandelier bulb into the nightlight socket.

C) Plug the nightlight unit into the Other postponement cord.

D) Plug both cords into a power furnish (the 110v wall outlet.) 

E) Plug a third postponement cord Into the photo-sensor unit. This will be the cord that you plug the lights you wish to flicker into. Let's call this the Flicker Cord.

F) Run the postponement cords with the devices into an enclosure like a shoe box. The enclosure must be light-tight. If you will be placing this "controller" outside, make sure the box is weather-proof. We advise keeping this controller indoors and simply running an postponement cord out to your outdoor lights.  

G) Plug at least one light into the postponement cord (Flicker Cord) which is plugged into the sensor outlet so that you can adjust the flicker unit. 

H) In a relatively dark room, experiment with the distance needed between the photo-sensor and the chandelier flicker bulb.  Tape each down when optimum flickering is reached. Adjusting the distance will turn how much or how tiny the lights stay on or off.

I) Tape down the lid on the enclosure and you're ready to rock!

This delivers a lighting trick that is used in approximately every movie fire you've ever seen. The actors are lit with fluttering orange light. (Using orange color spot or flood lamps in the flicker gismo are common.) "Faulty" or sputtering electrical lighting is also created by running the lights into this sort of flicker device. Remember the the photo-sensor you are using can furnish as Maximum of 300 watts of power. If you need more juice, just make more units!

How To Make Your Own Halloween Decorations

Not only will you need to dress yourself for Halloween, but also your home. Why not make some homemade decorations instead of going for store bought ones? Here are some ideas.

4. How about development some bats? You will need foam or construction paper. Once you've chosen the material, cut out the shape of a bat. Paint black and fix to the window or hang from the ceiling.

5. You could also decorate your chandelier. originate a less homely feel by fixing dead branches around it.

6. Glass jars can be useful for crafting Halloween creations. Inside them place water dyed with food coloring, then mix in plastic insects or body parts. To give more realism, place in ragged gauze or waxed string. Now they are ready to go on the dining table.

7. Why not ginger up the punch (but not in the usual way), drop in a hand! Get a plastic glove and some ice. The ice goes inside the glove - don't forget to tie the top. The ice will enable your dismembered hand to float menacingly in the punch.

8. Halloween is not Halloween without a pumpkin. You'll need to purchase one from your store, unless you grow your own. Hollow out the insides, maybe cut of a face or form then place a candle in the bottom. It will look super guarding your front door.

Some of the bats could hang down from the ceiling using black thread. You will have an eerie porch that will be noticed for sure! create a spider covered porch. Scary Halloween decorations are as easy as finding some super-sized spiders at your craft store or home improvement store. The bigger the better. You might even be able to find glow-in-the-dark spiders. Ewwww! While you're at it, pick up a package or two of that fake spider web material. Stretch it in the corners of your porch to create bigger-than-life spider webs. Hang the spiders from the ceiling, the porch columns, and the walls - everywhere you want many-legged creatures. Rent a fog machine and play some creepy music. Who knows what lurks in the fog? perhaps nothing but your trick-or-treaters will not know for sure. Playing eerie music combined with the rolling fog will create an aura of suspense and mystery. Make a crypt look like it has been opened and strategically place a Mummy on your porch, development it look like he has risen from the dead! How about hanging a combine skeletons freely from the ceiling and clothe them in a black jacket and hat? That will scare the munchkins some! Of course, play some of that eerie creepy music and imaginations will go like crazy. contain some jack-o-lanterns around the porch with electric lights.
